# Editorial standards and citations

This is educational. These are the rules for pages on this site.

## Cite the source, or do not say it

A fact about a loan program, a tax form, or a state filing points at the agency that published it: SBA, IRS, a state website, or a named nonprofit such as SCORE or an SBDC. The link is on the page. A paraphrase is not a citation.

## Do not invent

No invented market statistics, no typical fee percent, no typical working-capital peg, no headcount for an organization we did not count, and no firm we did not verify. If a number comes from this index, the page says so and includes how many of the rows are samples.

## Calculators show their work

Every adjustment is on the page. Assumptions are listed. Outputs are versioned. Test vectors are published at the calculator API so a person or an agent can check the arithmetic. An estimate is labeled an estimate. A score is a sum of published weights, not a credit decision.

## Samples stay labeled

Fictional listings say Sample listing. A Turnkey Ready badge on a sample listing is part of the sample. The directory does not fill empty categories with made-up practices.

## Educational, not advice

Guides are for orientation. They tell you to hire a lawyer, a CPA, or a lender when the question is yours. NewHands is not a broker-dealer and not those professionals.

## Corrections

If a citation breaks or a sentence overclaims, the changelog notes the fix. The guide is updated in place. The old sentence is not left up beside the new one.
